Biography

Dr. Daniel Igwe Jr. came to the United States as an international student with the passion of studying medicine and eventually General Surgery following in the footsteps of his late father who was an operating room nurse in Southeastern Nigeria. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Premedical Sciences at Florida A&M University in 1982, continuing to St. Georges School of Medicine in the West Indies where he earned his MD degree in 1987. In 1997 Dr. Igwe completed his Residency training in General Surgery at LAC-King-Drew Medical Center where he served as the Chief Resident. He further pursued a Fellowship training in Trauma and Critical Care Surgery at the same institution. Dr. Igwe has been in practice for about 28 years with added experience in Laparoscopic Surgery as well as Bariatric Surgery, authored and co-authored several journal publications. Dr. Igwe is an active member and Fellow of the America College of Surgeons having earned His Board Certification in General Surgery.
